Today I present these bean burgers for a change or for those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet and want to replace meat. An excellent option to incorporate legumes into our daily meals.
Legumes play an important role in any diet. They are an exceptional source of nutrients reduced in fat. With a high concentration of fiber, protein and vitamins, they are one of the most complete foods from a nutritional point of view.
It is important to increase consumption and there are a wide variety of recipes to make. From salads, breads or elaborate meals. They are used in a large number of recipes as a replacement for white and red meat.
Let’s talk a little about the preparation:
These bean burgers can be made with any type of beans you have. This time I had black beans, but all kinds work the same. But it is important to leave it in water for a few hours before cooking. If you don’t want to wait, you can opt for those that come in a can.
The consistency of this type of legume burger is not as firm as the meat one. That is why I suggest cooking well on one side and then turning to cook the other without moving much to prevent them from falling apart.
The ingredients are very few and easily accessible at any market. The tomato to be used can be fresh or dehydrated. If it is dry, it is advisable to hydrate with a little water before using. When using fresh, try to remove excess juice, since the wetter the preparation is, the more breadcrumbs you will have to use.
I did this preparation with my processor because it was the easiest for me. For this, I put all the ingredients except the tomato that I cut first, removing as much liquid as possible. Then I added it and processed all the ingredients for a few more minutes.
To obtain the classic hamburger shape, you can use your hands or some accessory, which will be practical and easy (I use a plastic one of those that you can find in those books).
The bread I used in this recipe was whole wheat hamburger buns that you can also make at home if you are in a great mood to cook. If you don’t want to eat bread, they have the option of eating on the plate with a rich green leafy salad or some purée, which is also an excellent idea.
