Winter is citrus season, and that’s why Integralisimo brings you this proposal: a tangerine whole wheat bread cake. Perfect for breakfast, a snack, or just any time of the day. In just a few simple steps, without too much hassle, you can enjoy a simple and incredibly delicious whole wheat cake.
Let’s talk about the recipe:
Preparing this tangerine whole wheat bread cake is straightforward, as it’s a recipe with no complications in terms of preparation and offers several advantages. The ingredients are just a few, frequently used and easy to find in any market. In addition, you can change any of them according to preference or need without inconvenience.
This time, I’ve taken advantage of these magnificent tangerines that my friend gave me (thanks, Lili!), straight from her tree, to infuse this bread cake with flavor. However, you could also use other citrus fruits like lemon or orange, for example. Also, it can be prepared with artificial sweeteners. But whole cane sugar adds a certain moisture that’s worth taking advantage of (see notes).
About the ingredients:
At Integralisimo, the whole wheat flour used is 100% organic and finely ground (unless stated otherwise). In general, depending on the brand, it can absorb more or less liquid. For this reason I recommend incorporating the liquids gradually. As a result, keep in mind that the smaller the volume, the smaller the final product.
The fat used in this opportunity is sunflower oil. Likewise, you can replace it with butter, margarine, olive oil, coconut oil, etc. Even so, depending on what fat is used, it can change its texture and final flavor. Therefore, always keep in mind the type and class of ingredients when preparing a specific recipe.
This is a recipe where you can choose to use tangerine juice, milk, plant-based milk, or simply water. Similarly, you have the option of using a mixture of them, that is, half and half. Replacing tangerine juice will result in a significant change in flavor. Nevertheless, you can also use the juice of other fruits like orange.
About Cooking:
Lastly, to bake this whole wheat bread cake, use a moderate low temperature, around 180 degrees Celsius (356 Fahrenheit), for approximately 40 minutes. For a good result, it is recommended, first adjust the cooking time according to the type of oven available and, secondly, to ensure that the cooking time is as precise as possible to prevent it from drying out.
